Obituary of Wanda Lee Hobbs
Wanda Lee Hobbs Owens
11/26/44 to 10/16/2024
Her greatest joy was her family and she loved the Lord. She loved her children and grandchildren and
prayed for them daily. Her loyalty knew no limit and her generosity was a defining quality. She loved
helping people and giving to those in need. In previous years, she volunteered at the McCreary County
Christian Center. It brought purpose and fulfillment and the ripple effect of her kindness to others is
immeasurable. She was kind-hearted and often rallied others to participate in her favorite charitable
projects. Her favorite hobby was golf; she and her husband Ron spent many hours enjoying the sport
with each other and their friends at Stearns Golf Club.
Wanda grew up in Parkers Lake, KY and lived there most of her life. She moved to Lawrenceburg in 2016
to be closer to her daughters. She attended the Anderson County Senior Center and enjoyed fellowship
with new friends, many of whom have preceded her in death. Her friends, old and new, meant the
world to her. She attended Sand Spring Baptist Church but kept her membership at Walker’s Chapel
Baptist Church because, “she left a part of her heart in Parkers Lake.”
She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Hobbs, her father and mother, Bertha Worley Owens
and Manual Owens, her sister Doris Owens Weddle, her brother Warren Owens, and her son-in-law
Columbus E. Heath, Jr. (Chris). She is survived by her children Michelle (Mark) Hunt, Lisa Heath, Rhonda (Keith) Mills,
grandchildren Matthew Heath, Chelsea Heath (Mauro Avalos), Jared (Bekah) Hunt, Grace and Nicholas
Mills, great grandchildren Luca and Rose Heath Avalos, brothers Larry (Mildred) Owens, and Gary
Owens.
