Obituary of Stewart Hardy, Jr.
Stewart Hardy, Jr., 72, finished his race on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. He was born on October 19, 1951 to his late parents, Stewart Hardy and Evelyn Wright Hardy. Stewart was married to his beloved wife, Jean Jarrell Hardy.
Stewart was a proud Scott County native, graduating from Scott County High School before pursuing both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Agriculture Education from the University of Kentucky. He dedicated much of his career to teaching agriculture, first at Washington County and then at Western Hills, where he served from 1981 until his retirement in 2000.
After retiring, Stewart spent his days doing what he loved most—working on his farm, raising cattle, and fixing tractors. He also enjoyed competing in the State Fair Pipe Smokers Competition for many years. Deeply devoted to his family and faith, Stewart's life revolved around those he loved and his relationship with the Lord.
A lifelong member of the Church of Christ, Stewart grew up attending the Ceseara Church of Christ and later became a member of Georgetown Road Church of Christ. He eventually returned to Ceseara, where he served as an elder, before most recently being a member of the Central Church of Christ. Stewart had a passion for preaching and singing, often stepping in to help whenever and wherever.
His love for his family, his faith, and his farm was at the heart of everything he did, leaving a legacy of service, dedication, and kindness.
Stewart is survived by his wife, Jean Hardy; children, Sara Dryden (John), Jim Hardy (Cris), and Erin Clark (Chad); grandchildren, Jack Dryden (Jan), Molly Warfel, Megan Warfel, Joe Hardy, Anne Dryden, Ben Hardy, Charlie Warfel and Beth Dryden; great-grandchildren, Ivan and Sara; and a sister, Valerie Estill.
