Obituary of Derrick Mckinley Moore

Derrick McKinley Moore, 48, husband of Kimberly Anne (Reid) Moore, passed away at his home, in Lawrenceburg, on November 3, 2016. 
A graduate of Grand View College and Mercy College of Health Science, Mr. Moore spent his life in the military serving his country as an Army Captain, retiring in March of 2013. He spent over 20 years as both an officer and enlisted soldier in the Iowa Army National Guard and fulfilled over 27 total years in service. He was highly respected for his 10 years of service to the Weapons of Mass Destruction Rapid Response Team. During his tenure he coordinated Civil Support/ Response to the 2006 Super Bowl, the National Governors Association meeting, the 2008 Republican Convention, and annually the Iowa State Fair. He also organized the largest joint civil/ military support operation during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Derrick spent his free time proudly supporting his wife in equestrian endeavors. He was also an accomplished amateur skydiver with over 300 jumps and was an accomplished photographer. After retiring from the Army, he returned to school to become a nurse. He believed in the good of people and always wanted to be of service. At this time there have been no services scheduled. If any donations or contributions wish to be made, they may be made to his wife, Kim Moore. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Saffell House Funeral Home.
