Obituary of James Thomas Ivey, Sr.
James Thomas Ivey, Sr., 74, husband of the late Sheryl Ivey, passed away on December 8, 2023. James was born in Lexington, KY on March 13, 1949, to the late Ernest Latrell and Esther Allen McCoy Ivey.
James was born and raised in Lexington, Ky, later moving to Nicholasville where he lived for 20 years, and then moving to Lawrenceburg where he spent the rest of his life. James was a retired truck driver from Hartland Express Trucking. He loved to play pool anytime he could.
James is survived by his daughters, Ingrid Wasson, Stephanie Whitaker and Candice Workman; sons, James Ivey, Jr., David Whitaker, Robert Whitaker and John Ivey; sister, Evelyn Cook; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Esther Ivey; wife, Sheryl Ivey; and sisters, Carolyn Ward and Tina Brown
Visitation will be held at Saffell House Funeral Home on Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., with the Funeral Service immediately following at 1 p.m.. A Graveside Service will be held at Lawrenceburg Cemetery following the service.
