Obituary of Sherrel Bruce Wells

Sherrel Bruce Wells, age 79, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023. He was born on September 26, 1943 to the late Cecil Rufus Wells and Hester Alice Ward. He was married to his lovely wife, Brenda Cleveland Wells for 60 years. 

Sherrel graduated from Western High School. He retired from General Electric and also as a building contractor. Sherrel was a member of First Baptist Church where he was a trustee. Sherrel also served his community as a member of the Zoning Board, a Magistrate, and the County Board of Health. He loved fishing, wood working and trading.

Sherrel is survived by his wife, Brenda Wells; children, Tammy Payton, Stacy Blank, and Cherlynn Cheak; five grandchildren, Michael Cheak ,Tyler Cheak, Travis Phillips, Alex Payton, Tara Ann Phillips and three great-grandchildren, Ellie, Jameson, and Elijah.

He is preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Anne Dennis, Blondella Coke and Nellion Hahn; brothers, Bill Wells, Cecil Jr. Wells and Don Wells.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2023 from 1-4 p.m. with the funeral service immediately following at 4 p.m. at Saffell House Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 16, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Grove Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville, KY.

Brother Bob Ehr will be officiating the service.

Pallbearers will be Alex Payton, Travis Phillips, Tyler Cheak, Michael Cheak, Tom Blank, Kevin Payton, Ed Yeaste, and Tim Rogers.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Burt Hahn, Marty Harley, Bertram Wells, Marty Hahn, Dewain Hahn, Charles Coke and Jimmy Coke.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to be made to First Baptist T.V. Ministry.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Saffell House Funeral Home.
