Obituary of Thom Hargis

Thom Hargis, 61, passed away on September 13, 2020 at UK Medical Center. Born in Fort Knox, Kentucky on March 15, 1959; he was the son of the late Russell Lovon Hargis and Elizabeth Mollie Henning Seale. Thom served his country in the Navy; he began service in 1977 and was honorably discharged in 1982. During his service, Thom served on two ships, the Paul F. Foster and USS Tarawa. After his service he moved to Little Rock, Arkansas where he met his wife, Dana. They got married and moved to Lexington and later settled down in Lawrenceburg. Thom loved guns, fishing, darts, and photography. He was also an active volunteer with the Anderson Humane Society because of his love for dogs. Thom is survived by his wife, Dana Lynn Palmer Hargis; daughter, Theresa Thompson (Jason); son, Ryan Matthew Hargis; sisters, Jennifer Gunzberg and Kathy Barnes; brother, Steve Hargis (Debbie); and seven grandchildren. Thom is preceded in death by his parents; Russell Lovon Hargis and Elizabeth Mollie Henning Seale; and sisters, Donna Dearth and Mary Hargis The family would like for any donations in lieu of flowers to be made to the Anderson Humane Society. An open house will be held at the Hargis residence on Friday, September 18, 2020 from 2-7 p.m.. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Saffell House Funeral Home.
