Obituary of James Herbert Martin

James Herbert Martin passed away at home on Friday, July 3, 2020. He was born on December 3, 1961 to the late James Randolph and Darlene Burton Martin. Growing up in Hardin County, James started working at the young age of 12 due to his dad being down with in his back. He worked at Sonoco as a young boy. He was also a cook at the Golden Corral Steakhouse in Elizabethtown and Leitchfield; managed the Golden Corral in Plainview, Texas and DeSoto, Texas. He left the restaurant business and ran his own landscaping business in 1996. Then he moved back to Kentucky in July of 1999 and worked for Fed Ex Ground and Home Delivery. In 2010 he became a subcontractor for Fed Ex named Madison Trucking, Inc.. In 2015 he went to work for Springfield Laundry till May of 2017. James was a member of Fox Creek Christian Church in Lawrenceburg. He spent the rest of his days relaxing at home with his beloved dog, Oscar,, watching t.v. and sleeping. He enjoyed being with his family. He loved and was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kentucky Wildcats. Also he enjoyed fishing with his family and golfing with his brother Ron. Most of all he loved his babydoll, Yvette, his wife of 30 years. James is survived by his wife, Yvette; brother, Ronnie Earl Martin (Lisa) of Bardstown; children, Chantill D. Martin (Shawn) of Hodgenville, Georgia L. Graham (Scott) of Lexington, Jade R. Martin (Hannah) of Lawrenceburg and Michael V. Martin (Kayla) of Frankfort; grandchildren, Audrey, Abigail, Esther, Elliot, Jaxon, Andi, Jonas, Archer, Haizley and Theodore. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Darlene Martin; sister, Pamela Sue Wolford; grandchildren, David W. Meredith and Baby Martin. Pallbearers will be Jade Martin, Michael Martin, Ronnie Martin, Scott Graham, Shawn Meredith and Casey Sheridan. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 5, 2020 at Saffell House Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m.. The Funeral service will be held Monday, July 6, 2020 at Saffell House Funeral Home at 11 a.m. with Don Wells officiating. The burial will be following at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens at 1:30 p.m..
