Obituary of Audrey Mckee Swartz

Audrey M. Swartz, Age 30, was born Dec. 11, 1985 at Sphon Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was the daughter of Elizabeth Gilbert Swartz and William Thomas Swartz, and stepparents, Mark Fitzgerald and Connie Swartz. Audrey is survived by her son, Owen Christian Fitzgerald (4); two brothers, Thomas Driscoll Swartz (26), and Timothy Freeman Swartz (26). Audrey received two degrees; and Associates Degree of Paralegal Studies and a Bachelors Degree in Counseling. She graduated from Sinton High School in May of 2004 as valedictorian in her class. Audrey was a top basketball player at Calallen High School She was a master scuba diver and co-taught diving in the Caribbean . Audrey will be missed especially by her grandmother, Ms. Linda June Gilbert; widow of Dr. George Gilbert (Deceased) of Lawrenceburg, Ky; Ms. Pat Swartz of Lexington Ky; and Dr. William Timothy Swartz (Deceased). Audrey is survived by three Aunts and six Uncles: George and Connie Gilbert of Lawrenceburg, KY, their four children Ryan, Claire, Holly and Ellen. Charles and Theresa Marcinek Gilbert, their children Adam, Jevon, Skylar and Jessie Aaron Gibbons (Deceased). Dr. John and Morgan Gilbert Lexington, their child Kennedy and his two sons (from Patricia Powell Gilbert deceased) Dr. John and Alec. Dr. James Gilbert, Capitol Family Physicans, and Leslie Gilbert, their four children Taylor, Lauren, Reed, and Charlotte. Louis Gilbert (Phoenix Az), his son Trent Gilbert; Linda and John Loughrin Gilbert (Bowling Green) and two sons, Johnny Loughrin and George Loughrin. Susie and Andy Roark, their daughter Pattie (Lancaster, KY). Her beloved Godmother Theresa Gilbert, her two daughters Corrine and Colette. Audrey will be remembered for her unyielding love for her friends, family and God. Audrey’s dream was to be a counselor for all the victims of drug abuse and bipolar disorder. She was a speaker at Charlie’s Place (rehab for bipolar disorder) in Corpus Christi, Tx. She volunteered her time at the Battered Women’s Shelter in Corpus Christi. She was always there to help the marginalized, needy, hopeless, homeless, and the imprisoned. St. Jude was Audrey’s chosen Catholic Saint, who was the saint of lost causes. Audrey’s wish was to pray over those in the family who suffer from the illness of bipolar disorder, especially her dear friend Jessie Aaron (Marcinek) Gibbons. The family wishes that Audrey's legacy would continue and those who need help with mental illness, domestic violence and addictions would receive it. The funeral will be held 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Saffell House Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg, KY. Burial will be at Lawrenceburg Cemetery on Thursday, January 7th. Visitation will be preceding the service Thursday, January 7th from 10- 2 PM at Saffell House Funeral Home.
